Mothers Day 2017 is just over 2 weeks away! Now is a great time to start thinking about the perfect gift for your mom. Or, perhaps you are going to be helping your grandchildren come up with a special gift for their mom. Today, we are sharing a neat idea that makes a great spring or Mother’s Day project!
A really nice thing about this project is that children can help. Check out this DIY project for painted flower pots.
This butterfly thumbprint art requires just a few supplies including a terra cotta pot, acrylic paint, paintbrushes, a black paint marker, dishes for the paint, and your thumbs! We found this awesome DIY project on the website Mom Always Finds Out. Be sure to check out their website for other fun family-friendly projects!
Gather your supplies (terra cotta pot/s, acrylic paint in your favorite colors, paintbrushes, a black paint marker, dishes for the paint)
Begin by drawing the black body of a butterfly on a terra cotta pot with your black paint marker. Don’t forget the head and the antennas! Next, squirt a small amount of paint onto a plate or into a paint dish. Choose whatever colors you like, but keep in mind that you are creating butterfly wings.
Then, dip your thumb into the paint and gently press it around the drawn-on butterfly body to create butterfly wings. You can continuously use the same paint color for one butterfly or mix it up and use other colors.
You can also mix it up and use yellow paint to add bumblebees to your pot. Simply use yellow paint and dip your thumb into the paint and place it on the terra cota pot.
Once the paint has dried, draw on small antennas, wings, and tiny eyes with your black paint marker.

Heating bills can get very expensive in the winter when the weather gets cold! Did you know that you can save yourself some money by using bubble wrap window insulation? It’s true! Bubble wrap can simply and easily be used in place of a window insulation kit! You really can’t beat the cost either. Today, we will tell you how to insulate windows with bubble wrap, a little bit of water, and a pair of scissors thanks to Knowledge Weighs Nothing.
Measure your bubble wrap to fit the size and shape of the window/s you wish to insulate. Next, cut off the excess bubble wrap. Then, spray water over your window to adhere the wrap to it. Place the bubble wrap on the window with the bubble side facing the glass.
You can easily remove the bubble wrap by pulling it gently. It can be reused for several years, which makes it extremely cost effective (especially if you can get your hands onto bubble wrap for free!)

Although it is hard to believe, Halloween is just over 2 weeks away! Decorating for autumn and Halloween can be so much fun. However, the same old DIY fall decor can get a little boring. This year, why not spice things up a bit with with a rainbow crayon pumpkin!
My very favorite Youtuber, Joey Graceffa, and his pal Tiffany dedicated a video specifically on the 411 on how to create a rainbow pumpkin by melting crayons with a hair dryer! The process to making a decorated crayon pumpkin is simple but a little messy (probably messier than traditional pumpkin painting)! Read on to find more.
Newspaper or some sort of floor cover/wall cover (this is optional, but if you are doing this project inside you will definitely want to cover your floor and the walls around you).
Begin by peeling the wrappers of the crayons you plan to use. You can use whatever colored crayons you want, just keep in mind the colors will bleed together and may create undesirable colors.
Glue the crayons around the top of the pumpkin. You can either break the crayons in half or into smaller pieces as you glue them.
Once the glued on crayons have dried on, turn on your hairdryer and start melting those crayons!
Move the hairdryer around the pumpkin and watch the crayons melt!
Allow the wax to dry, and your pumpkin will be all ready to go!
Happy rainbow crayon pumpkin decorating!
