Money Saving Tips For Around the House

One of the best ways to save money is by cutting down on the cost of cleaners for the different areas of the home. If you add up what you spend in cleaners every month, the amount would be surprising. A home can smell clean and be free of germs with things you’d find in your pantry and bathroom cabinet.

Baking Soda

One of the cheapest ways to clean and sanitize your home is by using baking soda. For mere pennies baking soda will clean just about every surface and appliance in your home and help out in the laundry too.

Mix a few tablespoons of baking soda with spray bottle full of water and you have a cleanser that will disinfect your counter tops and clean the refrigerator, microwave, and sanitize fruits and veggies before you put them away in the refrigerator.

Baking soda can give you a boost in whitening your clothes and remove stains without harming your clothing. Add it with your laundry soap and let sit in the wash cycle after the barrel fills for about ten minutes. Start the wash cycle back up adding your other whitening agent. Not only does this help whiten your clothing, but it also helps to eliminate any odors due to body, work, or anything else you come into contact with during the day.

Vinegar

Another cheap and effective everyday product you have on hand is vinegar. Vinegar is an excellent product for safe cleaning and healthy everyday needs.

As a cleaning product, vinegar disinfects floors, cleans windows, sterilizes coffee pots, rids laundry of odors and is great for bathroom and kitchen cleaning. Just dilute a third cup of vinegar in a spray bottle, mix with water and clean away.

For cleaning out the coffee pot, add two to three tablespoons of white vinegar with a full pot of water and let it go through a brew cycle. This will help to clean out the build up and freshen the coffeemaker from inside out. Rinse with another brew cycle and when you’re read to brew another pot of coffee. You’ll be amazed at how good your coffee will taste.

Using vinegar for health needs is also another cheap and effective way to save money. Use it as a gargle for a sore throat or to aid in helping break down cholesterol and fat within the body. Be sure to contact your doctor before using if you are taking other medicines for ailments. While vinegar is safe you want to make sure it wont interact with other medications.

Salt

Don’t overlook the ways salt can be used as a cleaning agent. As a scouring product, salt can replace cleaning products for next to nothing. As a cleanser salt can also help in breaking down build up in coffee pots. Add a few tablespoons to a brew cycle and soon your coffeepot will be perking great tasting coffee. You can also use it as a means of ridding your pots and pans of food gunk.

Just a note regarding your coffeepot, be sure to rinse with another cycle of just water before brewing your next part of coffee. However if you find you have a can of bitter tasting coffee, add a small bit of salt to your ground coffee before brewing and it will help your coffee taste better.

With these few household money saving tips, you can start funneling those savings into something else or add them to your savings account.
