People often overlook the amount of money that they spend on cleaning their clothes and doing laundry. Dry cleaning and regular washings can increase peoples expenses to the point where they need to limit the amount of money they waste washing clothes.
It is important to maintain your clothes well. Maintaining your clothes will make sure that they always look good and last long. When you keep your clothes in good shape, you do not have to replace them as often. You have to balance maintaining your clothes and the costs associated with cleaning them though. You do not want to spend so much money on the maintenance that you negate any savings that you get from keeping the clothes for a longer time.
Always Wear Undershirts
When you wear undershirts, you do not have to wash your dress shirts as much. Less washing means that you will be able to wear them longer in between cleanings. The materials will hold up better and you will be less likely to have a shirt that looks faded and worn.
You cut your costs by wearing undershirts because you don’t need to wash or dry clean your shirts as much. Reducing the frequency of your cleanings saves you money and extends the garment life cycle.
Do Not Purchase Dry Clean Only Items
Taking your clothes to the dry cleaners costs a lot more money than laundering it yourself. You have to pay for other people to wash your garment, and you have to pay for the gas to take your clothes there and bring it home.
People waste a lot of valuable time and money sitting at the dry cleaners waiting for their clothes to be returned to them. You can avoid this and save money by purchasing clothes that is suitable to be washed at home.
Skimp On The Detergent
It is tempting to use a lot of detergent when your clothes are dirty. When you do your laundry, you can cut down on the amount of detergent you use to save yourself some money. Some people avoid using detergent all together, they believe that throwing their clothes in a wash machine is enough to clean it.
Use less than the recommended amount of detergent to save money. Using less detergent will save the detergent you have and cause less damage to your clothes. If you use too much detergent, your clothes start to bleed and fade faster. Cutting it down will save you money in the long run.
Do Not Run Your Dryer Too Long
Keep an eye on the clothes in your dryer. People often hit the start button on their dryers and then just let them run until it shuts off. If your dryer is not full, you may not need to run it for that long. Check it out every once in a while, and if you find that your clothes is dry, stop the dryer.
