DIY Easter Decorations: Homemade Wreath Made of Peeps!

DIY Easter Decorations

Easter is a great time to decorate. DIY Easter decorations allow you to save money and spend quality time with your family. The Easter decorations that you hang around your home will mean that much more knowing that they are the result of your family coming together and creating something special!

Common DIY Easter decorations include Easter baskets and images of spring time and bunnies. But this Easter try something a little different by creating a DIY Easter wreath. These are easy, cheap, and your guests will notice right away as they enter your home! You can make your homemade wreath with flowers, but if you really want it to stand out try making it out of peeps – yes, the marshmallow treat! One good thing about this unhealthy snack is that it’s so overloaded with preservatives that you don’t have to worry about it going bad! Just be sure to put it in a place where it can stay dry and not get too hot. With the multitude of different bright colors that Peeps come in your homemade wreath will really stand out among your DIY Easter decorations!

You will need to buy a Styrofoam wreath. You can find this at your local crafts store such as Michael’s and JoAnn Fabrics. I would go with a larger wreath just so that you have some room to work with (a 16″ wreath works great). Be sure to get plenty of Peeps. I recommend getting 150-200. Whatever you don’t use you can use as Easter basket filling! And whatever amount of Peeps you get you will need to have the same amount of toothpicks. Finally you will need some nice wired ribbon to hang your wreath with. Be sure to get wired ribbon to ensure that it can withstand the weight of the wreath.

After you have the materials it’s time to get started! First stick your toothpick in the styrofoam wreath. Then stick your Peep onto the toothpick – it’s that easy! I recommend doing one at a time to ensure that you don’t prick yourself! When you’re done, wrap your ribbon around it, tie a bow at the top, and hang your Easter wreath in a spot where it can be seen by all of your guests! It’s sure to be a hit and you can brag about how easy it was to make!
