Free or Inexpensive Memorial Day Activities
We are closing in on the end of May which means Memorial Day is just around the corner. This year, Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 30. Do you and your family have any special Memorial Day activities planned? If not, we have some suggestions for FREE Memorial Day activities you can plan for your family. There are also inexpensive events and activities going on throughout the country over Memorial Day weekend.
Visit a local lake and have a Memorial Day picnic with your family! If you are allowed, you can go fishing, go on a hike, and/or pack a delicious meal for your family.
Have a cookout in your backyard with family and friends. Save money by purchasing supplies in bulk at warehouse stores such as Sams Club, Costco, or BJs. You can also save on decoration and supplies by shopping at stores like Dollar Tree.
Memorial Day festivals and parades will be going on in New York City over Memorial Day weekend. One Memorial Day parade will start at 1:00 PM on Grand Avenue at 72nd Street in Queens on Sunday, May 29.
The Brooklyn parade starts in Bay Ridge on Monday, May 30 at 101 Street and 4th Avenue at 10:00 AM and ends at John Paul Jones Park. A memorial service will be held at the park immediately after the parade.
The Staten Island Memorial Day Parade begins on Forest Avenue at 12:00 PM on Monday, May 30 .
The Bronx’s Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 30 on City Island at 2:30 PM.
