Who You Need To Know To Save BIG

You’re out shopping and you want to save BIG! You have your coupons in hand. What else can help you save big?

Networking! Networking!! Networking!!!

Ask Your Friends

Talk to your friends and see if they know of any discounts that you may not have heard of. Maybe they have a better coupon than you do, and they aren’t going to be using it. If a friend gets an employee discount, ask them if they’d be willing to purchase an item for you, if you can do the same for them. If you have a friend that qualifies for a senior discount, often they will help you out, if you are willing to help them in finding a great deal on something they are looking for.

Get To Know Your Cashiers

Get to know your cashiers. You see them enough, why not build some sort of relationship. Be pleasant and treat them right, and they will return the favor. I have a cashier that I will always go to when she’s working. I’m even willing to wait in a longer line. She’s a sweetheart, and always likes to chat. We’ve developed a friendship of sorts. I’ve helped her get started with couponing, and she’s made sure I knew about upcoming sales, or a deal I might have missed. It’s a win-win, relationship. (PS…It doesn’t hurt that my girls love her. )

Ask About Discounts For Teachers

If you are a teacher, you have several possibilities to save money. Most office supply stores have discounts for teachers. Bring your teacher’s ID, and make sure to show it each time. The savings are often huge! Plus on the odd chance that you forget, it’s more likely that one of the cashiers will remember seeing that ID. Don’t be afraid to ask if you are a librarian or homeschooler. I home school, and I have a Teachers Discount cards at several retailers. Don’t be afraid to ask retailers about perks for teachers. You’d be shocked at how many stores actually offer them.

The important thing about networking for that extra savings, is to not wear out your welcome. Always make sure that you thank the person that has helped you. Pay them back as quickly as possible, and offer to help them in their saving ventures. This will ensure a long, fulfilling relationship for both parties.

Now get out there and start networking!
