The Best Time To Buy

Have you ever wondered if there was a “best time” to buy certain items? After much research, I’ve found that there is! We all know that shopping off season is one of the easiest ways to save. There is also the option of buying just before the new model is released. Most retailers are trying to clear out the shelves to make room for the new big thing. The time of year… week.. or even day can impact your savings.

Here is a breakdown of what month to shop for the best deals:

January: This is the best time to buy sporting goods, bikes, and furniture.

February: This is the best time to go shopping for the TV you wanted last November. It’s also great for shopping for any other electronics like computers, DVD player, stereos, etc.

March: ALL WINTER CLOTHING! This is typically when they start bringing out clothing for Spring and Summer. Take advantage of it, to score some great deals, not only for this winter, but for next.

April and May: If you want to shop for a really nice set of pots and pans, baking sheets, dishes and silverware, these are the months to do it. You will find several sales during April and May and after researching it, you have potential of saving up to 90%.

June and July: Computers, furniture and electronics! Do you need a new MP3 Player? How about a new printer? Buy them during these months for the best deal.

August: If you need office supplies for your business or for your children’s school supplies, this is the best time of year to shop. I recommend waiting until the last week of August in order to take advantage of the fantastic clearance.

Also Summer clothing! Stock up on great deals for the remainder of the summer and fall, and put some cute outfits away for next Summer.

September: Most dealerships run their very best deals on new and used vehicles around this time of year. They are trying to clear the lot for their big money makers… the new models!

October: You will get great deals in your garden centers around this time of year. If you wanted to plant a tree or shrub, this is the time. You’ll also get great deals on houseplants, planters, and pots.

Cookware will be going on sale again around this time of year also.

November: All of that cookware will still be on sale. They love to stock the shelves with everything you’d need for the kitchen, around the holidays.

Also wedding attire. Have a wedding coming up? The sales on wedding dresses will shock you in November.

December: Brand New Cars! If you just have to have a brand new car, buy it in December. Many dealerships will run HUGE cash back sales, or tax free sales. This helps.

What about days of the week?

Monday: Cars.

Tuesday: Try to do your grocery shopping Tuesdays to take advantage of the new shipments, sales and clearance.

Wednesday: Travel plans. Schedule and purchase any airfare, train or bus tickets on Wednesdays. They offer the best rates.

Thursday: Books

Friday: Avoid shopping on Fridays!

Saturday: If you know of something that is going on sale on Sunday, Swing by the store Saturday night. Most stores start the discount the night prior. This will also help you avoid missing out if it’s a popular item.

Sunday: Groceries. The stores aren’t as busy, and they are preparing for Mondays shipment.

And Time of the Day?

Morning: Services! Hair, nails, even housekeeping…you’ll not only get better service, but many offer an early bird promotion.

Evenings: Cars. This prevents as long of a haggling process.

Night: Travel. You can take advantage of un-booked seats, empty hotel rooms, and even entertainment.

By knowing “When” to shop, you’re adding more $$$ to that wallet.
