If you want, you can even create patterns with the peeps. If you have a small cup or object you can place that in the middle of the vase to help keep the peeps upright. Next, add a thick layer of Easter grass (again, color is up to you but you may want to choose a color that coordinates with your peeps). Then, add a layer of Easter-colored peanut m&ms. After that, do another row of peeps all around the inside of the vase. Top with more Easter grass. Then place fake flowers in the middle. Voila!

Super Savings Tip on St Patricks Day Decorations

March 4, 2016 By Laura

St Patricks Day Decorations

Source: Flickr

St. Patrick’s Day will soon be here! Do you decorate for this holiday? Some people enjoy making their home festive for each and every occasion. Today, we have gathered up some fun and inexpensive St Patricks Day decorations that you can create on your own to make your home look like it bleeds Irish.

St Patricks Day decorations for your home:

  • You can make a simple an easy shamrock garland by cutting out shamrock shapes on green paper. If you are not good at drawing shamrocks freehand, you can print out a template on Google. Once you have done that, cut out circle shapes on gold glittery paper. If you do not have glittery paper on hand, you can add your own glitter. Then, get some string and tape or sew your shamrocks and glitter ‘coins’ onto the string. Voila!
  • You can make adorable leprechaun hat decorations out of small terracotta pots. Paint your terracotta pots green and allow them to dry. Be sure to use the kind of paint that is specifically for terracotta pots. Next, add a black ribbon to the base of the pot. Either add a small gold buckle or create your own with paper and attach it to the black ribbon. Finally, add a small green shamrock (real or made out of paper) to complete the decoration.
  • If you have green Christmas balls laying around somewhere, gather them up (ideally in various shades of green) and place them in a clear plastic or glass jar. You can even add white or green lights to the jar.
  • Create coffee filter shamrocks with coffee filters, green pipe cleaner, green food coloring, and water. Pinch the coffee filter together into a shamrock shape. Then wrap a pipe cleaner around the shamrock leaves so that it holds it shape. Next, dip the shamrock in cold water and gently squeeze out the excess water. Finally, place a few drops of green food coloring at the ends of each ‘shamrock’ leaf. Allow your shamrocks to dry. Then display them in a vase or wrap them around various items in your house.

St Patricks Day Shirts On A Budget Savings Tip

February 29, 2016 By Laura

st patricks day shirts

This year, St Patrick’s Day falls on Thursday, March 17. This may not be a holiday that people go ‘all out’ for, but some enjoy treating it as a special occasion (especially those who are Irish or who identify as Irish for that day!) If you want to make the day special, you can do so in a variety of ways. You can make St Patrick’s Day themed treats, drinks, and meals. You can decorate your home in four-leaf clovers and leprechauns. You could even make St Patricks Day shirts! Today, we are going to give you some tips on how to make DIY shirts that are perfect for St Paddy’s day celebrations!

Make Your Own St Patricks Day shirts on a budget:

You can get a solid colored t-shirt at your local craft store for a relatively low price (think Michaels, Hobby Lobby, AC Moore, or JoAnn Fabrics) and be sure to check for coupons before you shop! Then, purchase a cute (and affordable) iron on St Paddys Day themed applique from an Etsy shop such as OnceUponADesign. Simple, affordable, and customized to your taste.

Print a shamrock template off from your computer and trace it onto green felt. Cut it out, then use craft glue to attach it to a plain shirt. You can add stitching around the perimeter of the shamrock. This can add a bit of extra color and contrast, and also helps it stay in place. Check out this blog for a visual.

If you have green fabric paint laying around (or you want to go out and purchase some), you can make a polka dot shamrock shirt! This shirt is easy to make and fun for kids to help with! You just need a shirt, fabric paint, pencils with new erasers or q-tips, and a stencil. For more detailed information about how to make a polka dot shamrock shirt, check out this blog.

Discover Ways To Save On Flowers For Valentines Day

February 12, 2016 By Laura

Flowers For Valentines Day

With Valentine’s Day just 2 days away, you may already have your cards picked out and your Valentine’s Day flowers ordered and gifts purchased. If you are one of those people who wait to order flowers, you still have a little bit of time. Your selection may be somewhat limited, but you should still have some choices. So, how can you save money on flowers for Valentines Day? We have some tips below!

One way to save money on flowers for Valentines Day is to purchase less-popular flowers. Daisies, carnations, and tulips tend to cost less than roses. Red roses are one of the most popular flowers that people buy for others as a Valentine’s Day gift. However, if you purchase roses that are yellow or pink, you will likely pay less than you would for red roses. You can also opt to buy mixed bouquets that contain a few roses as well as other less expensive flowers. This decreases the overall cost as well.

If you order your flowers from large, online retailers such as 1800Flowers or Teleflora, you can use discount codes to save money. Check Retailmenot.com and groupon.com for discount codes and savings coupons. The Bouqs is another online retailer that offers reasonably priced flowers and they offer discount codes.

Quite possibly the best way to save on Valentines Day flowers is to celebrate a day late. Yes, you read that correctly. You can save a lot of money by celebrating on February 14. Flowers are typically marked up just before Valentines Day, but the prices tend to drop the day after. If you really want to save money and don’t mind delaying your celebration just a bit, this is the best way to save the most. Plus, chocolate will also be on sale so it really is a win-win situation all around!
